Let’s Build Our Home Together
Dear Halifax Tides FC Family,
On Tuesday, August 19, Halifax Regional Council will vote on the future of our club, our community, and the generations of athletes who will follow in our footsteps. This decision isn’t just about stadium seating and sea cans, it’s about building a home where dreams take root.
From our very first match in April, Halifax Tides FC has been more than a team. We’ve become a promise to the young women of this region that they can play, compete, and thrive at the highest level, right here in their own backyard. Every time we step onto the pitch at the Wanderers Grounds, we’re showing girls across Atlantic Canada that their ambitions don’t need to leave home to grow.
But to keep that promise alive, we need a permanent home, a stadium where the next generation can see what’s possible and believe that they, too, belong on that stage. A right-sized, community-first stadium would not only fuel pride and connection across our city but also stand as a landmark of opportunity and inclusion.
We’ve already seen how temporary solutions can spark enormous impact, the economic benefits as thousands have joined us with countless moments of joy shared. Imagine what we could do with a permanent home? One built to last, one that amplifies women’s sport and ensures that future players, coaches, and fans inherit a space they deserve.
Now, the choice is before council. The motion can move us forward into real discussions about making this vision a reality or it can send us back to square one.
Your voice matters.
By sharing why this moment is important, you can help secure a stadium that belongs to all of us, and to the generations yet to come.
Please send an email to clerks@halifax.ca by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18th. Tell our councillors why a permanent stadium matters: because it’s not just about sport, it’s about pathways, community pride, and creating a future where every young child who dreams of playing professionally knows they have a home field to chase that dream.
This is our moment to make history. Let’s show the city that Halifax stands behind its teams and its future.
Thank you for standing with us,
Courtney Sherlock
