Halifax Tides FC goalkeeper Anika Tóth has been named to the Slovakia Women’s National Team roster for a pair of FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying playoff matches against Ukraine on Oct. 9 and Oct. 13.

Slovakia will face Ukraine in the opening leg on Oct. 9 at Tatran Aréna in Prešov before the second leg on Oct. 13 at Košice Football Arena. The winner of the two-leg playoff will advance to the second round of UEFA qualifying, continuing its pursuit of a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

"It means so much to me to represent Slovakia. These are some important matches for us playing Ukraine for World Cup qualification, it’s a really important opportunity and I’m really excited," Tóth said.

The reigning Northern Super League Goalkeeper of the Year has continued to be a key presence for Halifax in 2026, delivering several standout performances throughout the season as the Tides battle for a place in the NSL playoffs.

Slovakia enters the two-leg tie looking to move one step closer to its first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance. The winner will advance to the second round of UEFA playoffs, scheduled for late November and early December.
