Halifax Tides FC dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to AFC Toronto on Saturday afternoon at Wanderers Grounds.

The visitors scored the lone goal in the 12th minute when Kaylee Hunter finished a cross into the penalty area, giving Toronto an early advantage.

The Tides responded with several promising attacking opportunities throughout the opening half. Julia Benati delivered a dangerous free kick into the box in the 18th minute that was headed just wide before creating another chance six minutes later with a shot from the top of the penalty area.

Halifax continued to push after the break, matching Toronto with 50 per cent possession while finishing with a 13-12 edge in shots. The Tides also earned all three corner kicks and consistently threatened from wide areas with 14 crosses but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Tides will look to bounce back when they travel to face Montreal Roses on July 12.
