Halifax Tides FC and AFC Toronto shared the points in a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon at Wanderers Grounds, with Julianne Vallerand's second-half header cancelling out an early Toronto goal.

Toronto struck almost immediately, winning a corner inside the first minute. The delivery from Victoria Pickett was worked goalward and deflected in off Anika Tóth, handing the visitors the lead.

Halifax settled into the game from there, working to create openings against a well-organized Toronto backline.

The equalizer came just after the hour mark. In the 59th minute, Vallerand rose above her marker to head home from close range, levelling the match at 1-1 and sending Wanderers Grounds into full voice.

Halifax turned to its bench to freshen up the attack, bringing on Julia Benati, Jordyn Rhodes and Julie Pedersen inside the same three-minute stretch in search of a winner. Sheyenne Allen and Tiffany Cameron followed later as the Tides continued to push.

Toronto held firm defensively and managed the closing stages to secure a point on the road, extending their unbeaten run.

Both sides had late half-chances, but neither goalkeeper was seriously tested again after the opening exchanges, and the match ended level.
