Halifax Tides FC Head Coach Stephen Hart will return to the touchline Sunday as the Tides host AFC Toronto in a key Northern Super League playoff matchup at Wanderers Grounds.
Hart, who has been away from the team for the past six weeks to be with his family, will return to lead the Tides from the sidelines as the club enters an important stretch of the season. His return brings the Tides' head coach and leader back to the touchline with the team pushing for a playoff position.
Hart expressed his gratitude for the support he and his family have received from the Club and praised the leadership of the Tides' technical staff and players during his absence.
During Hart’s time away, First Assistant Coach Katie Barrott stepped into the role of Interim Head Coach, leading the Tides through seven matches and earning seven important points in the playoff race. Under Barrott, Halifax earned a draw against the league leaders and secured a significant road result against the second-place side, picking up valuable points against two of the NSL’s top teams.
“So grateful for all the support shown to my family, from the club ownership and backroom staff. Katie and the technical staff have shown tremendous leadership, stepping up when needed. As for the players, your togetherness is an inspiration. I cannot wait to be on the sidelines at Wanderers Grounds with all of you!”
The Tides currently sit fourth in the NSL standings with 21 points, four points behind third-place AFC Toronto. Sunday's match gives Halifax an opportunity to close the gap on the team directly ahead of them in the playoff race.
