Halifax Tides FC are excited to welcome Stella Downing, a Vancouver native, to the club. The forward joins the Tides after an impressive showing in the inaugural Northern Super League season with Ottawa Rapid, where she recorded three goals, two assists, 22 total shots and logged 1,242 minutes.
“Stella is a tricky and versatile attacker that gave opponents fits last year and is equally gritty in helping the team win the ball and launch the next attack,” said Tides sporting director Amit Batra. “In watching her commitment to the team and in meeting her, Stella fits exactly the type of culture we’ve created and will be a valuable addition to our locker room, the pitch and the community.”
Known for her speed, intelligent movement off the ball and finishing ability, Downing brings both creativity and versatility to Halifax’s attack.
“Stella is the type of player that not only excites the crowd, but is also penetrative in her play and has proven she can score goals,” said Tides head coach Stephen Hart. “Comfortable in either wide position and as an attacking midfielder, she gives us flexibility in our game.”
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Tides and what they are building. I can’t wait to get started,” said Downing.
With her attacking instincts, Downing is expected to make an immediate impact as Halifax continues to build its offensive identity for the 2026 season.
