Halifax Tides FC defender Naya Cardoza has been named to Jamaica's Reggae Girlz roster for a pair of international friendlies against Mexico on Oct. 9 and Oct. 13.
The matches will serve as preparation for Jamaica ahead of the Concacaf Women's Championship, where the Reggae Girlz will look to secure a spot at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
Cardoza has made 17 appearances for the Tides in her rookie professional season, helping the club to four clean sheets. She scored her first senior international goal for Jamaica in February 2025, in a friendly win over Peru.
"A lot of my family is Jamaican, so my whole life I have always had a connection," Cardoza said. "Being raised in Canada allowed me to still be connected to my Jamaican roots through my family, but also within my community as well. So no matter where I am, I'll always be repping JA!"
The call-up comes as Cardoza continues to develop on the international stage.
"At the international level, I'm always expecting a high level, and with that also showing up prepared to face that," she said of the competition awaiting her in Mexico. "I'm surrounded by veterans and different styles of play that will only continue to develop my game."
UP NEXT: The Tides continue their push toward the playoffs at home on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. vs. Calgary.
