Halifax Tides FC fell 1-0 to the Montréal Roses on Sunday afternoon at Stade Boréale in the clubs' first meeting of the 2026 Northern Super League season.
The two sides battled through a tightly contested and physical first half, with Julia Benati creating Halifax's best early opportunities. The midfielder was shown a yellow card in the 25th minute before testing the Montréal defence again later in the half as the teams headed into the break scoreless.
Both clubs turned to their benches after halftime, with Tiffany Cameron and Kiki Jordan entering for the Tides in the 60th minute to inject fresh energy into the attack.
The breakthrough finally came in the 77th minute when Montréal was awarded a penalty, and Chloe Minas converted from the spot for the lone goal of the match.
Halifax introduced Megumi Nakamura and Sarah Taylor shortly after conceding, but the Tides were unable to find an equalizer as the hosts held on for the one-goal victory.
The Tides return to action on July 25 when they travel to face Vancouver Rise FC.
UP NEXT: The Tides are back on the road Thursday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m. as they face Ottawa Rapid for their fourth time this season.
