Halifax Tides are excited to announce the signing of midfielder Julia Benati for the 2026 season. Benati will join the squad as the club continues to build depth and creativity in the middle of the pitch.

Benati featured in 23 Northern Super League matches last season with Ottawa Rapid, while contributing three goals and one assist. Comfortable operating in tight central areas, she brings balance to the midfield with her ability to progress play, penetrate through the middle, and threaten goals from range.

“Jules brings a high soccer IQ to the Tides with the ability to receive the ball in tight pockets and link well with the midfield or execute the final pass,” said Sporting Director Amit Batra. “Her awareness combined with technical ability make her a threat to score equally from inside or outside the penalty box. Ultimately, Jules can make players around her better and fans will enjoy watching her create opportunities.”

Off the pitch, Benati brings an impressive professional background. She is a licensed chiropractor, having studied at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and earning her Doctor of Chiropractic following her undergraduate studies. A reflection of her discipline, intelligence, and commitment to high performance.

Her pedigree on the field is equally strong. In League1 Ontario, Benati earned Top Midfielder and First Team All-Star honours in 2021. She captained her side in 2022, closing the season as Most Valuable Player, Midfielder of the Year, and a First Team All-Star. From there, she went on to compete professionally in Norway and Portugal.

Benati shared her excitement about joining the club: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to join the Tides and start this next chapter. This club is building something special and I’m excited to be a part of it. I can’t wait to play in front of such a passionate community and give everything I have for this team.”

Fans can look forward to seeing Benati orchestrate play and create chances for the 2026 season at Wanderers Grounds.
