Halifax Tides Battle League Leaders AFC Toronto to Another Tight One-Goal Match

Halifax, NS (September 8, 2025) – Halifax Tides FC battled hard in front of their home fans on Saturday afternoon at Wanderers Grounds, falling 1-0 to AFC Toronto in a tightly contested match. The lone goal came from a scramble inside the Halifax box just before halftime.

Despite the final score, the Tides challenged the league leaders and came close to leveling the match on several occasions. In the first half, forward Milly Clegg had one of the game’s best chances, testing Toronto’s backline in front of goal. After the break, Saorla Miller’s corner connected with Megumi Nakamura, whose header skimmed the crossbar.

Goalkeeper Anika Tóth delivered a standout performance, making several key saves to keep Halifax within striking distance. The Tides also showed moments of real creativity in attack, building sequences that generated opportunities and keeping the match heated until the final whistle.

“I think for me just staying in it and communicating with my back line and my team helps me stay locked in and focus on the game and just knowing that if shockers come at any time, I have to be ready for it at any point.” Anika Tóth Tides FC goalkeeper.

Halifax Tides FC return to Wanderers Grounds to host Ottawa Rapid FC on Saturday, September 13 at 1 p.m. AT. Tickets for the match can be purchased here.
