Halifax, NS (August 29, 2025) – Halifax Tides FC faced a challenging night at TD Place Stadium on Thursday, falling 5-0 to Ottawa Rapid FC.
Halifax started strong, creating early chances, including a notable opportunity from Megumi Nakamura in the first half. The Tides ended the opening 45 minutes 1-0, earning eight corner kicks throughout the match.
Despite the final score, the Tides remain focused on regrouping and looking ahead. With seven regular-season games remaining, Halifax is determined to carry forward the energy, learn from the experience, and deliver strong performances in the coming weeks.
Interim head coach Stephen Hart said: "We've been spending a lot of time working on the offensive part of our game. In the first half, and even sometimes in the second half, we got into some really good positions where, with a little more composure - or maybe a bit of luck - we could have scored a goal. I don’t like to use the word luck, but maybe with a little bit of luck, something breaks for us and we score. It gives you a different feeling."
Halifax Tides FC return home on Saturday, September 6, at 3:00 p.m. AT to host AFC Toronto.
BACK ON THE PITCH: After nine games out, Gunnhildur Yrsa Jónsdóttir returns to the Tides starting line-up.
UP NEXT: Halifax Tides FC hosts AFC Toronto at Wanderers Grounds on Saturday, September 6 at 12 p.m. AT (Get your tickets here or stream on CBC Gem).
